Community to undertake cleanness in Yerevan: Council of Elders makes a decision to set municipal establishment for waste removal and sanitary cleaning
During the meeting of the Council of Elders the Council made a decision on the creation of the municipal establishment “Waste removal and sanitary cleaning in Yerevan”.
“We are taking actions to solve the problem with waste removal. Unfortunately, when the new staff of the Council took the office Yerevan, the serious problems with waste removal had already been rooted in Yerevan. We can’t take hasty steps and make mistakes. We must solve the problem fundamentally, taking into account all nuances”, stressed the Mayor of the capital.
“Sanitek” company which is responsible for the sanitary cleaning in Yerevan doesn’t meet its contractual obligations which is proven by the current situation with waste removal in the capital.
Before establishing the new municipal entity, the Municipality rented dump trucks to arrange the activities which “Sanitek” fails to carry out.
“Later we will decide together if Yerevan will remain the operator or we will invite another private company. In all developed countries of Europe, the community or the state has its share in the organization of public transport or waste removal activities”, emphasized the Mayor.
