A number of open air film shows and concerts will be organized within the frames of “Golden apricot” film festival

During the press conference in Yerevan City Hall Yerevan Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan and the director and founder of the film festival Harutyun Khachatryan presented the program of the XIV International Film Festival “Golden apricot” as well as the events and further programs to be implemented in teamwork with Yerevan Municipality. Like the previous year, this year the program of the festival will include competition and non-competition programs.
Stressing the importance of the film festival in the cultural life of the capital, Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan expressed confidence that “Golden apricot” will be at the focus of attention of Yerevanians and tourists who are fond of cinema.
Deputy Mayor also presented the details of the open-air events to be held within the frames of the festival under the support of Yerevan Municipality. In particular, this year, in the context of proportional development of the capital, the geography of open-air film shows will be expanded. Up to now the shows were organized only in the area of Swan’s Lake and in Charles Aznavour square, but this year the open-air shows will be organized in the area of Cascade complex, in the administrative districts of Nor Nork, Malatia Sebastia, in Lovers’ park and in Azatutyan square (Freedom square).
“The shows of silent films will be organized mainly in the area of Swan’s Lake as this genre attracts a lot of interest of the audience. I want to outline that films of various genres will be shown as well so everyone can find something on his taste”, said Aram Sukiasyan adding that besides competition films of the festival the shows of Frunze Dovlatyan’s, Yuri Yerznkyan’s and Sergey Israelyan’s films will be shown too.
Within the frames of the festival open-air concerts are provided too. Aram Sukiasyan informed that every day from 9 till 16 of July concerts of various jazz bands headed by popular jazzman Levon Malkhasyan will be held nearby the “Moskva” cinema from 21:00 till 23:00.
Harutyun Khachatryan in his turn noted that “Golden apricot” has achieved great success due to all the people and organizations supporting the organizers of the festival.
“Taking the opportunity I’d like to thank Yerevan Municipality and personally Taron Margaryan who is always next to us and shows support in the organization and holding of the festival”, said Harutyun Khachatryan.
