554 million AMD for construction design of “Ajapnyak” metro station: regular meeting of Council of Elders taken place

554 million AMD has been disbursed for the construction design of the metro station in Ajapnyak administrative district. The Council of Elders approved of the draft decision during its regular meeting.

50 million AMD has been disbursed for social assistance in Yerevan. This assistance program will be implemented within the frames of the voluntary obligations anticipated for the Mayor by law. It should be noted that the community already implements a number of other social programs.

By the decision of the Council of Elders a number of community joint-stock companies will be reorganized. Deputy Mayor Gevorg Simonyan, who represents the project, noted that the goal of the initiative is to increase the level of services rendered to residents in policlinics, to improve the conditions in premises and to ensure effective management. Before putting the project into practical phase, it was thoroughly studied and all problems were revealed. The program mainly involves policlinics servicing a small number of residents, the ones that have no appropriate financing and labour resources to provide high-quality services and to develop on their own.

The Council also confirmed the decision to place memorial boards dedicated to a number of eminent figures in Yerevan: the journalist, essayist, translator Aydin Morikyan, to the Distinguished Scientist of Arm.SSR, academician Hrant Adonts, to the historian, armenologist, educator, professor Tachat Sahakyan, to the orthopedist-traumatologist, doctor of medical sciences, professor, Arm.SSR Distinguished Scientist Kristophor Petrosyan, to the statesman and politician Misak Mkrtchyan, to the statesman and public figure Bersabe Grigoryan.

Another decision of the Council referred to naming the segment of the road stretching from Charagaytayin street to Shahumyan 7th street after the playwright, translator, publicist Artashes Kalantaryan.

The meeting was followed by Q&A. The Council members addressed their questions to the Mayor, to heads of administrative districts and departments of the Municipality.
