“The two-stage tender for the new waste management plant must be conducted by the end of the year. We can no longer afford delays,” stated Mayor Tigran Avinyan
To extinguish the recent large-scale fire that broke out at the Nubarashen landfill, approximately 22,035 tons of water were used, and around 430 rescuers were mobilized. By the morning of August 9, the fire had been fully extinguished. It took nine days to cover the affected area with soil. Approximately 20 to 22 vehicles, provided by the Yerevan Municipality, operated daily in the aftermath of the fire. As of August 17, the damaged area was completely covered with soil. Over the course of nine days, 2,450 truckloads of soil were transported to the landfill, and the smoke has dissipated. Work is ongoing.
Mayor Tigran Avinyan has instructed the relevant departments to organize a procurement process with a clear and transparent outcome, ensuring that a winning organization is selected by the end of the year.
“The two-stage tender for the new waste management plant must be conducted by the end of the year. This is one of the most critical and complex challenges facing the city of Yerevan, and we can no longer delay it. Either the tender will be held by the end of the year, or I will proceed with appropriate personnel changes,” the Mayor emphasized.
