New Year Eve fairytale project ‘When dreams come true”
At New Year Eve, Yerevan Municipality made the dreams of many children come true presenting a fairytale day to those who believe in Santa Claus and wait for him.
The “When dreams come true” project has been carried out for the fourth year coming and due to it children’s letters addressed to Santa Claus are received in Yerevan Municipality and re-addressed to the Mayor. The gifts they expect- books of fairytales, drawing and painting sets, toys, dolls, board games, sweets are given to them during Santa’s visit to their homes. On the whole the program lasted 4 days. Santa has no weekends and he visited them on Saturday and Sunday. On the third and fourth day of the project Santa visited the administrative districts of Ajapnyak, Erebuni, Malatia Sebastia and Shengavit administrative districts. “Four years ago, when we started this project we received only 10 letters addressed to Santa Claus. This year we have about 300 letters. There are letters from almost all administrative districts, and taking into account some important aspects we gave priority to the letters of the children from needy and many children families. It was also important so that the letters were written and decorated by children themselves. Besides, we checked all the addresses to exclude the ones included in the projects of the previous year. This project is special and it knocks the doors of those who believe in dreams and in Christmas wonders. This unexpected but desired visit fills every home with happiness which is our main goal”, said the coordinator of the project, the head of Tourism Division of the Municipality Department of Culture and Tourism Maria Baraghamyan.
