The results of the 14th music contest-festival of the municipal music and art schools were summarized at “Aram Khachatryan” concert hall. The annual music show is held at the initiative of Yerevan Municipality.
The First Deputy Mayor, acting Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan, members of the Council of Elders, heads of administrative districts were present at the event.
Currently, approximately 9000 students get their musical education at the cultural educational establishments of the capital. More than 1000 of them took part in the contest. The contest is an important platform designated to reveal talented children, to improve their skills and to enhance development of artistic education.
The young musicians competed in 11 nominations: piano, national instruments, string, brass, percussion instruments, solo performance, ensemble, choir, orchestra, composition, theory of music. This year, “The theory of music” nomination was held in a new format: all students took the unified examination in solfeggio and musical literature subjects to participate in the contest. The participants were assessed by a professional jury.
The best schools of 2021-2022 academic year were congratulated and handed in honorary diplomas by the First Deputy Mayor, acting Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan.
“Music is a language the knowledge of which opened new doors to art. This contest is an important event in the art of music. For young musicians it is an opportunity to show their skills. Every year Yerevan Municipality takes measures to replenish community cultural educational establishments with new instruments. We also appreciate the devotion and hard work of teachers. Thus, the teachers of the best students and the directors of the music schools shown highest results are to be encouraged”, said Levon Hovhannisyan.
The top three places got the music school after A.Tigranyan, the specialized music school after A. Spendiaryan and the music school after A. Hekimyan respectively. The art school after H.Danielyan comes 4th and the music school after Mirzoyan is the 5th.
“Revelation of the Year” nomination was awarded to little trombonist Eva Galstyan.
In the finale of the gala-concert the choir of 400 students from different art and music schools performed compositions dedicated to Yerevan in different years. Conductor -Maria Galstyan. 
the music contest will come back next year which is a jubilee year for the event.
