National Ballet of England Is Invited to Perform “Giselle” in Yerevan

At the invitation of the administration of the National Ballet of England, the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Culture and Tourism Gosh Sargsyan visited the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
In Manchester, Gosh Sargsyan was present at the “Gizelle” ballet performance.
The possibilities of organizing the shows of “Gizelle” ballet in Yerevan, the terms, and conditions of the first exclusive regional invitation of the England’s ballet theatre were discussed during the visit. “Gizelle” is considered the stage masterpiece of the world-famous choreographer Akram Khan, and Yerevan Municipality would be happy to make this project come true.
During the meeting with the artistic director of the English National Ballet Aaron Watkin, Gosh Sargsyan referred to the long-term cooperation program. Special meetings were held with the representatives of the creative-artistic and technical staff of the ballet theatre.
“This year Yerevan Municipality initiated significant cultural projects which gave a new impetus to the cultural life in the city making it possible for townspeople and guests of the city to enjoy precious art. Nearly 50 000 people attended the opera shows organized in Tumanyan park in June and September. This experience positions Yerevan on a completely new level of organization of art events. To ensure the continuity and further development certain steps are being taken to expand the geography of the Yerevan festival and to involve world-famous artists as well”, emphasized Gosh Sargsyan.
Currently negotiations are going on to organize the visit of the eminent conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Simon Bolivar Orchestra (Venezuela) to Armenia, to make real the joint performance of Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre (Sait Petersburg), “Yerevan” Youth Symphonic Orchestra and prominent violinist Augustin Hadelich, as well as to ensure the participation of Tbilisi Opera Theatre and other famous musicians, performers, art collectives in various events in Yerevan.
