Schoolchildren for Climate

Within the frames of “EU4Yervan: Solar Community” program, Yerevan Municipality in association with “Solaron” company specialized in production of solar panels, held a two-day event entitled “Schoolchildren for Climate”. The participants of the event were 120 pupils of secondary schools of the capital. The young people were presented the climate change impacts and challenges, the measures aimed at their prevention including the importance of using renewable energy, particularly, solar energy.
The participants familiarized themselves with the process of production of photovoltaic systems. The pupils were also introduced the “EU4Yerevan: Solar Community” program within the scope of which solar photovoltaic stations are placed on the roofs of 90 blocks of flats.
According to the deputy head of Development and investment Programs of Yerevan Municipality Mery Harutyunyan, about 26000 residents including children are beneficiaries of the program carried out by the European Union, and it is highly important to be aware of the climate changes and the programs aimed at the settlement of the problem since childhood.
The children showed their knowledge about the problem and the most active participants got encouraging prizes.
