Programs Discussed During This Week’s Work Meeting

With government support, 22 of the 45 trolleybuses purchased by the Yerevan Municipality have already arrived in Yerevan, and the rest are expected shortly. Once these vehicles are officially put into operation, the old ones will disappear from the streets.

The implementation of major infrastructure projects continues in Yerevan. The tender for the construction of a transport hub connecting the Artashat Highway–M2 North-South interstate road to Noragavit 1st Street has already been completed.

Preparations for the construction of a new road section connecting Tsovakal (Admiral) Isakov and Arshakunyats avenues are in the final stage. Construction will begin shortly. The new road will play an important role in reducing traffic congestion in the capital.

A major urban development investment project is planned in the area adjacent to the metro station to be built in the Ajapnyak administrative district. The project is currently at the tender stage. The design envisions the construction of modern parking lots, which will help ease congestion in the central parts of Yerevan. Preparations for the construction of the "Ajapnyak" metro station continue.

Construction of the new Gymnastics Sports School named after Albert Azaryan is progressing rapidly. Upon completion, the sports school will be equipped with the necessary equipment.

Several preschools are being built and reconstructed across the capital. In particular, a new kindergarten will be built at 42/1 Shrjancik Tunnel in the Arabkir administrative district.

Seismic reinforcement, energy-efficiency upgrades, and reconstruction works at Kindergarten No. 156 in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district are nearing completion. Construction of new buildings for Kindergarten No. 24 in the Arabkir administrative district and for the kindergarten in the Avan administrative district is also underway. Each preschool will have six groups. Rooftop solar photovoltaic systems with a capacity of 20 kW will be installed. The outdoor areas will be landscaped, featuring new playgrounds and irrigation systems.
A new kindergarten will also be constructed in the Nor Kharberd district.

The medium-scale road repair program continues in the capital. Work has been completed on Saryan and Titogradyan streets: the asphalt concrete pavement has been replaced, the manholes were raised and aligned with the road surface, and floating manholes have been installed.

The city’s bus stops continue to be equipped with electronic timetables. Six stops have been updated since the beginning of the year, with another six to be completed by the end of June. Throughout 2025, electronic timetables were installed at more than 40 bus stops.

At the initiative of the Yerevan Municipality, a pilot program aimed at developing emotional intelligence among children aged 3-6 was implemented in municipal kindergartens. The program helps children better recognize and manage their emotions. In addition, children’s abilities and the program’s effectiveness were assessed through appropriate tests.

The Noragavit district of Yerevan is to be reconstructed. By Decision No. 567 adopted by the Government of the Republic of Armenia on April 23, the area was recognized as an area of overriding public interest. Consequently, property valuations and compensation processes will be carried out.

As part of the reconstruction of the "Cascade" complex and implementation of the "Cascade Cultural Hub" project, property in the area is being assessed and the compensation process is being finalized.

Employees of the Public Order Protection Service of the Yerevan Municipality have been provided with new uniforms. From now on, citizens will be able to easily identify officers on duty by their new uniforms.

On May 4, the Kentron administrative district, in cooperation with the "Keron" Development Foundation and "Paper.evn", opened the "Armenian Inventors: Science from Inside Out" public playground in Yerevan’s Missak Manouchian Park. Covering an area of about 700 square meters, the playground meets all safety standards. It is designed for children aged 3-12, who will also have the opportunity to explore the world of science through play.

Murals reflecting Armenian culture have been painted on several residential buildings in the Kentron administrative district. In addition, an Armenian cultural carpet inspired by the motifs of an 1828 Armenian carpet has been painted at the Abovyan-Pushkin intersection.

The summer hall of the "Moscow" cinema, one of the city's most iconic structures, will be reconstructed and restored.
