Yerevan Zoo is open throughout the year.
Nearly 170 species of animals live here. Each of them requires special care. The cages of those ones who are accustomed to warm weather conditions are heated.
The Zoo family also includes species registered in the Red Book.
The Zoo usually has thousands of visitors yearly: even in the epidemic conditions about 120 thousand people visited the Zoo during 2020.
According to the acting director of the Zoo Vladimir Simonyan, recently they have opened a new covered pavilion attached to the winter shelter of the elephant so as people could watch the winter life of the elephant in more comfortable conditions. Other projects are under discussion as well.
Opening of new cages, expanded areas, new animals – the Zoo has lots of plans. They intend to boost the interaction between children and animals, to create a new approach to the nature.
V.Simonyan added that the Zoo collaborates with the National Academy of Sciences. Besides they have got an interesting educational idea that is to make it possible for schoolchildren to get open lessons of Nature Studies here, in the Zoo.
The Yerevan Zoo is open every day from 10:00 till 18:00, and it is possible to walk round the Zoo area of the Zoo till 19:00.
