There are 161 municipal pre-schools in Yerevan and about 28 thousand children attend them. Here children spend most of their time and have meals three times a day.

At the beginning of the year Yerevan Municipality announced a tender for catering in pre-schools: this year there are 18 suppliers.
Deputy Mayor Tigran Virabyan stated that pre-schools and their catering are at the focus of attention of the city authorities. The city authorities keep the quality of food, date of expiration and marking under everyday control. In 2019 some suppliers were changed because they didn’t meet the requirements.

Fresh food products are delivered to kindergartens in special cars separately and in appropriate containers. The compliance with standards is always checked and if it doesn’t meet the requirements the food products are returned and appropriate measures are taken.
In pre-schools food is kept in special storages next to kitchens: meat and dairy products in special refrigerators, and fruit and vegetables in their proper conditions.
Parents can always see daily menu as it is always stuck at the entrance. The menu always includes fruit, vegetables, pies, fresh-made compotes.
We fixed no serious violations during our surveys in 10 municipal kindergartens. However, some defects were noticed. The head of the Department of General Education Anna Stepanyan informed that they asked the heads of pre-schools to submit their proposals regarding improvement of the menu and making it more varied.

Particular attention is also paid to the equipment and conditions in kitchens. Thus, the municipal programs of next year include renovation and overhauling of 20 kindergartens and construction of three new ones.
