The coordinator of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2798” working group, Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan presented the program of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2798” events during the press-conference.

Referring to the culturаl programs the Deputy Mayor outlined that in comparison with previous years this year thе celebration is scheduled only for 1 day, on October 8 and will be held under the slogan “ Yerevan-Sun city”. Aram Sukiasyan reported that this year the program of events doesn't include the traditional gala concert in Republic square and the festive parade held in front of the City Hall.
“Taking into account the incidents occurred at the front line at the beginning of this April, by the instruction of Yerevan Mayor the scheme of financial allocations from the city budget anticipated for the cultural events of 2016 was reconsidered in May. Due to this reconsideration the families of the servicemen, fallen, injured or disabled at the frontline were shown corresponding support. Taking into account the mentioned above facts “Erebuni-Yerevan 2798” events will be more modest”, stressed Aram Sukiasyan adding that by the decision of Mayor Taron Margaryan, the program of social support is starting on September 27.
Concerning the main events Ara Sukiasyan noted that multi-genre concert programs will be held for the residents and the guests of Yerevan. In the square neighboring “Republic square” metro station (Khachkars square) the national stage will be placed where cultural associations of the national minorities and Armenian song and dance groups will be performing. Flashmobs will be held in various corners of the capital.
On October 8 the traffic movement actually won't be stopped. This year only Erebuni street and a part of Abovyan street will be closed.
In harmony with the slogan “Yerevan: the sun city” the capital will be decorated in red and apricot colours symbolizing sun rays.
The head of the Department of External Design and Advertisement of Yerevan Municipality Araz Baghdasaryan reported that the streets, bridges as well as vehicles and the city equipment will be decorated. Festive advertisement boards will be placed too.
During the press-conference it was also reported that during the coming-soon meeting of the Council of Elders of Yerevan the names of the honorary citizens of Yerevan will be announced.
