Memorandum of Understanding signed between Yerevan Council of Elders and Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly

Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan welcomed the President of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg Alexander Belski who arrived in Armenia with an official visit. Having greeted the guest Hrachya Sargsyan first of all touched upon unprovoked war unleashed by Azerbaijan against our country, their invasion of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, shelling of civilians, causing destructions and human losses and stressed that hostility and aggressive actions of Azerbaijan against the population of Armenia must not be tolerated.

The First Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan, the leaders of “My Step” faction of the Council of Elders Armen Galjyan, the leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” faction Mikael Manrikyan, the leader of “Luys” faction David Khazhakyan and the representative of Yerevan Municipality in Saint Petersburg Armenak Karapetyan participated in the extended meeting.
Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan stressed that Yerevan attaches particular importance to cooperation development with the northern capital of the RF as well as expressed hope that the document to be signed between the legislative bodies of two cities will open new perspectives for the implementation of joint programs at this level.
Expressing gratitude for warm reception the President of Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly Alexander Belski in his turn noted that there is really a wide field for cooperation between the two cities which will make it possible to involve new directions of mutual interest.
The Memorandum of Understanding between Yerevan Council of Elders and the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg was signed after the official part of the meeting. The document of signed by Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan and the President of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg Alexander Belski.
The Memorandum of Understanding envisages cooperation in the fields of local self-governance, urban development and land use, budget process and tax policy, culture, education, new technology, environment and other spheres.
