6 more pre-schools will be completely renovated within the frames of energy efficiency program of Yerevan. Mayor Hayk Marutyan signed the contracts on the renovation of 6 pre-schools with the contractor companies won in the competition.

As a result, the costs of these public buildings and CO2 emissions be reduced.

Mayor Marutyan expressed gratitude to supporting and partner structures and noted tat without grant investments Yerevan community would not be able to implement seismic fortification and overhauling of pre-schools.

“I’d like to emphasize the importance of this program for Yerevan community taking into account several circumstances. Firstly, the main beneficiaries of this program are children for who proper and safe conditions are provided in pre-schools; secondly, due to this program we get seismic stability, energy efficiency and relevant sanitary conditions in kindergartens which is particularly important during pandemic; and thirdly, the energy efficiency program is the first non-sovereign loan of Yerevan community due to successful implementation of which it will become possible to receive similar loans for realization of new programs”,-stressed the Mayor.
Expressing satisfaction with the process of implementation of the program, the representatives of donor organizations expressed confidence that the results are noticeable owing to joining efforts.
“This is one of those numerous projects united Yerevan Municipality, the European Union and European Investment Bank.. This project has two interesting aspects: firstly, it ensures energy efficiency and improvement, as well as reduction of energy costs; secondly, it is highly important for European Investment Bank as it is also Europe’s Climate Bank”, marked the EIB representative Rafal Rybacki.
Total cost of the program is 15 million euro, 7 million euro of which is a loan allotted by European Investment Bank, 5 million euro grant from the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environmental Partnership (E5P), 1 million euro grant allotted by the Green Climate Fund managed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and 2 million euro from the community budget of Yerevan.
It should be noted that within the scope of the first stage of the program large-scale activities are going on in 8 pre-schools (N36,49,22,23,71,74,47,48). The contract for the mentioned pre-schools was signed in September 2020 and in April 2021.
Besides the Energy Efficiency Program of Yerevan, complete renovation of pre-schools is going on within the frames of the annual programs of the Municipality of Yerevan.
Hayk Marutyan stressed that the Municipality actually attaches particular importance to overhauling and not to simple renovation.
