The mayors of Yerevan and Amman walked about the night Yerevan
Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan together with the Mayor of Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Akel Biltaji and the members of the official delegation headed by him walked about the night Yerevan. The mayors visited the open-air exhibition “Cultural genocide: the symbol of Khachkars” opened in the park located at the junction of Nalbandyan and Hanrapetutyan streets of main avenue, where 13 copies of Khachkars (cross-stones) destroyed in Western Armenia and Old Julfa are exhibited.
Taron Margaryan stressed that this exhibition opened within the frames of the series of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is one more opportunity to familiarize especially thousands of foreigners visited Yerevan these days with the Armenian culture and to make them aware of the cultural crime which had been committed and is still occurring. Akel Biltaji in his turn expressed gratitude to his colleague for warm welcome and for personally presenting Yerevan to him and noted that any crime irrespectively of its type should be condemned. The Mayor of Amman also said that he was impressed with the beauty and the hospitality of the city and admired it greatly though there wasn’t time to see much of Yerevan.
