Within the frames of the official visit of the Governor of the northern capital of the RF to Yerevan the Government of Saint Petersburg and the Municipality of Yerevan signed the program of trade and economic, science and technical, and humanitarian cooperation for the years of 2015-2020. According to the agreement signed by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and Governor of Saint Petersburg Georgi Poltavchenko, the parties are obliged to develop and strengthen the bilateral ties.

After the solemn ceremony of signing the program Taron Margaryan and Georgi Poltavchenko had a short briefing with journalists.
“Armenians have been living in Saint Petersburg for 305 years and I have to admit that up today they have been playing an important role in the development of the city and we respect them greatly. Armenia and Armenian people gave to world numerous outstanding people including scientists and art workers, and today they keep on representing both Armenia and Russia with their activity and caring treatment. We are brothers who are tied by centuries-old history and warm friendly relations. I am sure that this program of cooperation will give a new quality to the realization of constructive programs between Yerevan and Saint Petersburg as all the directions in which the our 5-year cooperation is to develop have already been outlined”, said Georgi Poltavchenko.
Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan in his turn expressed confidence that in all the directions outlined by the program the noticeable results would soon be achieved.
“The cooperation between our two cities which was developed within the scope of the program of 2011-2014 was successful and effective. Both cities have big achievements and I am confident that due to this 5-year program we will be able to expand the circle of cooperation which will be useful for the residents of the two cities. I am also confident that we will have significant results in all the directions of the program of cooperation for 2015-2020 signed by us today”, stressed Taron Margaryan.
