Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan’s congratulations on the New Year and Christmas

30.12.2018

Dear Yerevanians,
Festive days are a good occasion to gather with friends and relatives, to remember wonderful stories connecting us and, telling warms words to one another express once again how dear we are to one another. On this bright holiday I want to speak a little about our glorious capital city - Yerevan.
We really live in an absolutely unique city. Centuries-long history has left its imprints on our city, however it always strives to the future trying to keep up with the times. With its lifestyle and architecture our city is absolutely Armenian, yet it incorporates the best experience of the world culture. In the names of its quarters and streets this city summarizes the dream of the Armenians worldwide to be united in Homeland. At the same time, we named squares, avenues and parks after friendly countries and cities, foreign art figures and scientists as a token of love, gratitude and solidarity. Every day and every hour, in our daily life, at work or during the rest we live with the delightful thought that we are the residents of a great country. It’s a wonderful feeling but it makes us feel responsible too.
Yes, we must be worth being the citizen of 2800-year old Erebuni-Yerevan. And I am sure that in 2019 and other years to come we will carry on what we started in 2018, as we have already arranged.
We will cherish the past of our city, keeping its historical face, preserving and taking care of each stone and at the same time we will create a new city-a more comfortable, safe and modern one.
I want to congratulate the citizens of our city who fill Yerevan with their everyday presence sharing its problems and building its future. I also congratulate our temporary residents, those who study, work or spend their holidays here. I congratulate the former residents of the city who had to settle in different cities worldwide for various reasons but at the bottom of their hearts they keep the warmth of their hometown and even years later consider themselves to be Yerevanians. The singer of our city says in his song, “I love you, my Erevan, it was worth reaching the world end to understand these words”. Dear Yerevanians living worldwide, be sure that we wait for you every day.
I’d also like to congratulate the little residents of Yerevan, our children, those who meet the Christmas fairytale for the first time. We will do our best so that the fairy tale lasts long.

Dear Yerevanians,
The passing year was a year of struggle, pride, victory and rejoicing. I am sure that 2019 will become the year of purposefulness, creative and effective work.
I wish high mood to all of us, let good luck and God’s blessing follow us throughout the year.
Everything will be all right.
Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!
