Mayor Taron Margaryan met with the delegation headed by Lyon Mayor George Kepenekyan who arrived in Yerevan with an official visit. Members of the “Republican Party” and “Yelk” factions of Yerevan Council of Elders were present at the meeting.
Greeting the guests during the official meeting Mayor Taron Margaryan stressed that strengthening the friendly and partners ties between Yerevan and Lyon, working out bilateral programs and cooperation in various spheres are really important for Yerevan.
“Mister Kepenekyan, we highly appreciate your personal contribution to strengthening bilateral ties. There is big potential for interaction between Yerevan and Lyon which makes it possible to develop our cooperation in a new format expanding joint projects in economic development, tourism boosting, installation of new systems of governance and cooperation in culture and education as well as in some other fields of urban economy. I am sure that your visit will give a new stimulus to our cooperation and we will get new achievements. We attach importance to implementation of concrete project and I assure that Yerevan Municipality is always open for cooperation with all organizations and individuals who want to make beneficial investments in Yerevan and within our powers we are willing to show overall support”, stressed Mayor Taron Margaryan.
Expressing gratitude for warm welcome and outlining the importance of Yerevan Mayor’s willingness to expand cooperation Lyon Mayor George Kepenekyan noted that all cities have similar problems and it is easier to find solutions to them through mutually beneficial cooperation. Lyon Mayor also stressed that he will do his best so that the cooperation between Yerevan and Lyon will carry on giving noticeable results.
“Mister Mayor, we attach importance to cooperation expansion and strengthening with Yerevan which is proven by such an authoritative staff of our delegation. I’d like to stress that the members of our delegation have already made sure that there is appropriate potential for cooperation here which will certainly promote implementation of more ambitious bilateral programs. I am sure that out today’s visit will be effective and due to joint efforts of our two teams we will open a new page of cooperation between Lyon and Yerevan for the benefit of the residents of the two cities”, said George Kepenekyan.
