During a board meeting of the Union of Communities of Armenia, the Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, was unanimously elected Chairman of the Board. Expressing his gratitude for the trust, Mayor Avinyan emphasized that the aim of the Board is to foster self-sustaining and progressive communities.
“Local self-government is one of the cornerstones of democracy. It empowers communities to define their development priorities, address the needs of their residents, and shape their future through their own efforts. This model is not merely a legal formality but a practical imperative for modern and effective governance.
We strongly believe that this path must be grounded in a principle of partnership between state institutions and communities, based on mutual trust and shared responsibility. This platform is vital for enhancing the independence and financial sustainability of communities, for advocating and safeguarding their interests, and for advancing local self-government through cooperation,” stated the Mayor.
