By the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan the parents of nearly 1600 fixed-period servicemen from Yerevan got another opportunity to visit their sons. The importance of this social program organized for five years running is proven by the wish of thousands of citizens to be involved in the program and by the way many of them have taken the opportunity for several times. Before the departure Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and the RA Minister of Defence Vigen Sargsyan wished servicemen’s parents a happy trip.

“We attach particular importance to this already traditional program of organization of the visits of the parents of the servicemen from Yerevan to frontier military units. Since 2013 up today within the frames of this program more than 9000 parents have got the opportunity to visit their sons and to familiarize themselves with the conditions on the spot. Within the frames of the current visit which is the second one this year nearly 1600 parents are going to visit military units. I have outlined many times that this program is aimed at strengthening the ties between the army and society and we will carry on to organize such visits at least twice a year. And generally we will do our best to make our soldiers feel certain that they and their parents are always at the focus of attention of the state and community. By the way, this time we have a surprise for the parents. Together with the Minister of Defence were are going to join them and visit our soldiers. I wish everyone a happy trip”, said Taron Margaryan and taking the opportunity expressed gratitude to the RA Ministry of Defence, to the Artsakh Army of Defence nd to Stepanakert Mayor for permanent assistance in the organization of this program. The Mayor also expressed gratitude to the RA Road Police and all medical workers who willingly take part in the program and provide escort of the parents to the military units.
The RA Minister of Defence Vigen Sargsyan in his turn stressed the particular importance of the program.
“The RA Ministry of Defence is really highly grateful to Yerevan Municipality for this initiative and we always show overall assistance. Last time we promised to visit the military units together with parents and today we are keeping our promise. This program is really important. It has become a good example for other cities and this year the municipalities of Gyumri and Vanadzor also expressed wish to come up with such an initiative”, said Vigen Sargsyan.
Getting on each bus and wishing all the parents a good trip Mayor Taron Margaryan and the RA Minister of Defence Vigen Sargsyan joined the parents and got on the bus moving to one of the south-eastern military units to meet the servicemen.
