For more than half a century, Gagik Martirosyan and Slava Mkrtumyan have been at the craddle of the creation of the Yerevan Metro. Both of them have been employees of the Metro for nearly 50 years. Gagik Martirosyan was one of the builders of the 'Marshal Baghramyan' station, and when several months after the metro was put into operation, Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan visited the station, Martirosyan was entrusted with the responsibility of welcoming and accompanying the Marshal.
Currently, Slava Mkrtumyan, the senior inspector for safe metro operations, and Gagik Martirosyan, who works in the department of development and modernization programs, share their stories about the years of creating the underground city and their interactions with Karen Demirchyan."
