Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, Levon Hovhannisyan, participated in the 10th Armenia–Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum held in Yerevan. In his statement, the Deputy Mayor highlighted one of the most pivotal infrastructure projects in Yerevan — the construction of the new “Ajapnyak” metro station.
“The Municipality of Yerevan has initiated the construction of the “Ajapnyak” metro station, a long-envisioned project originating from the Soviet-era master plan of the capital. It will become the 11th station in the capital, linking the left bank of the Hrazdan River with the city center. Today marks a significant milestone: we have moved beyond aspirations and are actively progressing toward its realization. This strategic initiative is set to improve public transport accessibility for tens of thousands of residents, reduce emissions, save commuting time, and enhance access to education, healthcare, and employment. Notably, this project is not only well-planned but also economically viable. It is currently in the final stages of technical review, with several financing models under consideration. Our goal is to commence construction by early 2026, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Yerevan,” stated the Deputy Mayor.
David Gevorgyan, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Yerevan Municipality, also took part in the discussions between the sister cities of Armenia and Russia. He highlighted ongoing cooperation initiatives between Yerevan and various cities in the Russian Federation.
