Yerevan resident soldiers got encouraging holidays

In accordance with the agreement signed between Yerevan Municipality and the RA Ministry of Defence to strengthen the ties between the army and the society and to encourage the soldiers outstood during their service, the fixed-period soldiers from Yerevan are given a short leave.

43 servicemen called up from Nor Nork administrative district got 5 and 10-day leave and have been in Yerevan since June 30.
“This initiative of Yerevan Municipality and the RA Ministry of Defence has already become a good tradition which is aimed at strengthening the ties between the army and society. At least twice a year the parents of our servicemen have the opportunity to visit their sons in the military units. Since last year, in cooperation with the Ministry we have started this tradition and the soldiers outstood during their service get the opportunity of a short leave to meet with their family in their native city. I’d like to give special thanks to the RA Minister of Defence for this successful cooperation and I assure that this program will be long-term. I am also grateful to all those parents who brought up brave sons thanks to whom our borders are protected and impregnable. I wish you a good service, dear boys. Remember that we are proud of you and I am sure that we have a worthy generation which will flourish our country with honour and responsibility”, said Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, then thanked the governor of Gegharkunik region Rafik Grigoryan and the commander of the 2nd corpus of the RA MD Poghos Poghosyan who were present at the meeting for the assistance in the organization of the meeting.
As a token of gratitude Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan awarded “Yerevan Emblem” medals to the governor of Gegharkunik region Rafik Grigoryan for cooperation expansion between Yerevan community and Gegharkunik ; to the commander of the 2nd corpus of the RA MD Poghos Poghosyan for the contribution to the issue of homeland border protection. About twenty officers were awarded with Yerevan Mayor’s thanksgiving diplomas.
For the organization of regular meetings with their sons serving in the army, the parents expressed gratitude to Yerevan Mayor and the Minister of Defence stressing that such support make their sons who protect the front-line zones today feel more inspired and efficient.
