In accordance with the agreement between the Municipality of Yerevan and the Ministry of Defence of the NKR, 104 fixed-period servicemen got the opportunity to have a meeting with their parents and relatives in Yerevan. This time the program the aim of which is strengthening the ties between the army and society and encouraging of distinguished soldiers involves the fixed period servicemen form the administrative district of Avan and Nor Nork. Stressing the importance of such programs Taron Margaryan assured that the parents of the servicemen from other administrative districts would have the opportunity to meet their sons too.
“At least twice a year we organize meetings of servicemen with their parents. And this is the second time the NKR Minister of Defence Movses Hakobyan has initiated the visit of our soldiers doing their military service in Artsakh to Yerevan. During the first visit fixed period servicemen from the administrative districts of Arabkir, Kanaker Zeytun and Malatia Sebastia met with their parents. Taking the opportunity I’d like to assure the parents from other districts which haven’t met with their sons yet, that they will certainly have such an opportunity”, stressed Taron Margaryan. He also noted that the Municipality of Yerevan will always support the army, the servicemen and their parents. “I am sure that these meetings have not only moral significance but also contribute to uphold the military spirit of the soldiers as they make sure one more time that their native city and all of us are next to them. I’d also like to assure that the attention paid to the soldiers and to the army by the Municipality of Yerevan will be permanent and we will consistently strengthen these ties”, said Mayor Taron Margaryan.
During the event organized for the fixed period servicemen and their parents in which Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and the NKR Minister of Defence, lieutenant-general Movses Hakobyan also took part, the band of the Army of Defence of the NKR “Aspet” showed their performance. Those present also watched the film “Army is our home”.
By the order of the NKR Minister of Defence the parents of the servicemen were handed thanksgiving diplomas. Greeting those present the NKR Minister of Defence, general-lieutenant Movses Hakobyan stressed the effectiveness of the cooperation between the Municipality and the ministries of Defence of the RA and the NKR and stressed that it makes it possible to undertake various programs of social significance ensuring the meetings of the servicemen with their parents.
