Monument to Yervand Manaryan unveiled in Yerevan
By the decision of the Council of Elders of Yerevan, a monument to the People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia, actor, film director Yervand Manaryan was unveiled in front of the Hovhannes Tumanyan National Puppet Theater at 4 Sayat-Nova Avenue.
The event was attended by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, and representatives of the cultural sphere.
The author of the bronze statue is sculptor Armenak Vardanyan, member of the Union of Artists of Armenia, and the architect is Mikael Misakyan.
The monument was erected in the capital on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the outstanding artist's birth. By the decision of the RA government, 65 million drams were allocated for the creation and installation of the monument.
The opening event of the monument was followed by a stamp cancellation ceremony dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous actor and a photo exhibition. A stamp with a face value of 380 drams on the theme "Great Armenians. 100th anniversary of Yervand Manaryan's birth" was put into circulation. The stamp depicts Yervand Manaryan (1924-2020). In the right corner of the stamp are the inscriptions "YEREVAND MANARYAN" and "Armenian actor, film director" in Armenian and English.
