The First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan, the RA Deputy Minister of Agriculture Garnik Petrosyan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Armenia Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the republic of Italy to Armenia Giovanni Ricciulli, representatives of other diplomatic missions, head of the companies organized the festival were present at the ceremony of opening.
Greeting those present on behalf of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan Kamo Areyan said that this festival is of special significance for Yerevan.
«Due to this important festival the rural traditions and life with the gifts of nature can be present in the capital and interflow in urban life and our producers and farmers take part in it. The capital with its traditions needs such traditional festivals. This Harvest Festival is very important from the point of view of economy, integration relations, encouragement of farmers' work. I wish the festival to be successful. Enjoy the village in the capital with its all traditions and gifts of nature», said the First Deputy Mayor. The participants of the Festival- farmers, organizations and individuals producing agricultural goods from Armenia, Karabakh, Georgia, Syria and other countries display their goods, handmade works, traditional foods, fresh, dried fruits and vegetables in about 100 pavilions.
«The climate in our 10 marzes is diverse so the plants growing there are diverse too. Thus, each region, each community has its specific traditions, culture, dialect. However village has common features too which are typical for Armenian village. This features are our diligence, our devotion to our country, endless love for our land and water. Agricultural year is coming to its end and farmers now can present their production in Yerevan», said Garnik Petrosyan.
The Festival was accompanied with performances of the national song and dance groups. Puppet show was performed for little visitors.
