Bust of Uruguayan National Hero José Gervasio Artigas Unveiled in Yerevan
By a decision of the Yerevan Council of Elders, a bust of the national hero of Uruguay José Gervasio Artigas has been installed in Uruguay Square. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Yerevan Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to Armenia, Silvana Lesca Barolin.
The Deputy Mayor expressed confidence that this important initiative is another demonstration of the warm friendship and mutual respect established between the peoples of Armenia and Uruguay.
He also announced that the agreement declaring Yerevan and Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, as sister cities is ready to be signed.
