Two new bypass roads to be constructed in Yerevan

05.04.2024

The road connecting Tbilisi highway to Yeghvard highway will be 2.5.km length and 25 m width. The main construction of the road will be a 350-meter-long metal bridge. The road will have sidewalks on both sides and modern external lighting. The construction of the road will cost 36 milliard drams, and the process will take approximately 4 years.
Acting head of “Yerevan urban development investment programs implementation agency” Armen Harutyunyan informed that they suggest connecting Tbilisi highway directly to Yeghvard highway through the segment of the canyon and to construct a bridge over the river. Yeghvard highway will have a roundabout traffic at one level unlike Tbilisi highway which has two levels. The road will significantly relieve the traffic as people will be able to bypass entering Yerevan.
Expansion of streets and roads in Yerevan is impossible nowadays. The construction of bypass roads is the main solution to the problem. Today the road segment Ulnetsi str.-Rubinyants str.is ended with a bridge segment. It is planned to construct a new road leading to Acharyan str. The length of the new road will be 3.6km.
At this moment the suggestions of Yerevan Municipality are at the investment committee. The director of the agency expressed hope that certain solutions will be ready by the end of the year and the community will initiate the practical stage of the construction of the road relieving the northern entry to the city.
