“Yerevan summer 2017”: “Yerevan with flair” has been held in Yerevan for the 3rd time
Within the frames of the three-month program of events “Yerevan summer 2017” the festival of Armenian festive and ritual dishes “Yerevan with flair” has been held for the 3rd time. The event was held due to joint efforts of the tourism unit of Yerevan Municipality and the “Armenian cookery traditions development and preservation” NGO. Yerevan Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan, Mayor’s Assistant Maria Baraghamyan were present at the event. Numerous tourists for whom the festival became an opportunity to open a lot of interesting about our cuisine were present at the event too. Outlining the organization and holding of tourists events as a tool for tourism boosting Yerevan Mayor’s Assistant Maria Baraghamyan said, “Attaching importance to event tourism development we organize some events with tourism component one of which is “Yerevan with flair”-the first festival in “Yerevan summer 2017”. “Yerevan with flair” is based on the important idea to present our co-citizens and the guests of the capital the best traditions of Armenian cuisine, the rich culinary heritage, national festivals and festive and ritual dishes”.
Expressing gratitude to Yerevan Municipality for the assistance in the organization of the festival the chairman of “Armenian cookery traditions development and preservation” NGO Sedrak Mamulyan said, “The festival has been held for the 9th time however it has become more popular during the recent three years being included in the municipal program “Yerevan summer”. Today more and more people are getting interested in our ritual dishes the recipes of which were handed down to us by our grandmothers and mothers”.
Yerevanians and guests of the capital were given the opportunity to taste Armenian national dishes, and the volunteers assisting the organizers of the festival in different languages were telling the guests about the history of Armenian festivals and cooking traditional dishes. The event was accompanied by concert program in which folk dance and vocal groups took part.
For the first time Yerevan best dish of the year was distinguished in the nomination “Yerevan salad”.
At the initiative of the tourism unit,in accordance with the results of the surveys made during the festival, the winners in three main nomination were recognized:
“Best decorated pavilion” (wine factory “Hin Areni” (“Old Areni)), “Most hospitable pavilion” (“Megeryan carpet” company) and “The most delicious pavilion”(“Hin tun” (“Old house”)).
At the end of the festival all the participants were handed thanksgiving diplomas of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan.
