Yerevan Lake to become comfortable recreation zone: Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan watched cleaning up process
Within the scope of the annual program of Yerevan Municipality the clean-up of Yerevan Lake has already started. For the year of 2022, the budget appropriations will make up 60 million 430 thousand drams. This provides for the installation of fencing cage on the Hrazdan river, organization of clean-up events and collection and removal of approximately 12500 м3 of waste.
Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan visited the spot to watch the process. The main cause of the lake pollution is the household and building wastes which are piled in the area because of careless behavior of residents. In parallel with the clean-up of Yerevan Lake the community discusses the possibility of creating a rest zone in this area. The 2,8 ha of the shore of the lake is going to be cleaned, benches, dustbins are to be installed, sports grounds, bicycle lanes, walkways to be constructed; the area will get energy efficient illumination and proper greening.

The Mayor also visited the city plant nursery where he was presented the activities planned in 2022. The persons in charge marked that the area of the greenhouse and plant nursery is going to be expanded this year. In fact, only 10 ha of the actual 25 ha is used. Currently, the trees and flowers to be planted in the city are mostly grown here: nearly 60 names of plants including the ones included in the Red Book are grown by the hands of about 30 employees.
