The first meeting of the working group created to conduct studies in the Zoological garden was held in the City Hall today. Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan greeted those present and wished them a fruitful activity.
“I want this group to make a complete, reasonable conclusion so that nobody could think that there is some secret or fake information. It is vital to be open and trustworthy. I want this group to be completely trusted by society”, stressed the Mayor.
The working group was formed by the instruction of Yerevan Mayor to reveal the problems emerged in society in relation to the activity of Yerevan Zoo and to find appropriate solutions. The group involves representatives of the city authorities, animal lovers and ecologists, representatives of NGOs and individuals.

Mayor Hayk Marutyan expects durative cooperation with the group not only in this problem but in further programs as well. He added that would like to know their opinion about the work of the circus. Though the circus doesn’t belong to the Municipality, the city authorities must have their position in relation to the circus animals. “The more people get involved in the discussion of these processes, the more certain position the city will have”, said the Mayor.
In parallel with the working group Mayor Hayk Marutyan also instructed to form a commission which will study the financial and economic activity of the Zoo.
