“If there is no culture, everything else is senseless”: Mayor awards representatives of dance art
On the event of the International Dance Day Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan hosted the representatives of dance art. Congratulating them on the professional holiday, he expressed gratitude to them for preservation and development of cultural traditions.
“Yerevan Municipality, our team attaches particular importance to the activity of cultural centres of the capital. If there is no culture, everything else is senseless and you are the bears of this culture”, stressed the Mayor.
This year the Municipality made some changes in the system of awarding: from now on Mayor’s awards will be handed to the employees nominated by the organization. On the event of the International Dance Day, for significant contribution to the development of choreographic art, the soloist of the national Academic Theater of Opera and ballet after A. Spendiaryan Vahagn Margaryan was posthumously awarded with Yerevan mayor’s Gold Medal. For the significant contribution to dance art “The Honorary Culture Figure of Yerevan” medal was awarded to the dancer of the State Dance Ensemble of Armenia Inga Avdalyan and the ballettmeister of Dance Ensemble “Sardarapat” Edgar Hakobyan.
A number of representatives of dance art were awarded with Yerevan Mayors honorary diplomas.
