Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan accompanied by the specialists of the RA MES Seismic Protection Service visited municipal schools and kindergartens where some problems were spotted after the earthquake. Deputy Mayor Gayane Melkom Melkomyan, heads of administrative districts participated in the visit as well.

The head of the seismic resistance department of the MES Seismic Protection Service Zaven Khlghatyan assured that the walls of the schools and kindergartens are strong and safe. The earthquake caused some cracks on the putty layer and had no impact on load-bearing walls.
Mayor Hayk Marutyan stressed that the problem requires attention and complex solution. The Municipality has already renovated 12 kindergartens, 6 more ones are to be renovated this year. Besides, 15 kindergartens are to be renovated within the frames of energy efficiency increase program and in two of these pre-schools the activities have already started.
On Monday, February 15 all schools and kindergartens will admit children in accordance with the determined schedule.
