Municipal museums join International Museum Day and “Museum Night” event

Because of the COVID-19 epidemics this year the International Museum Day and the “Museum Night” event are to be marked on the same day, May 18. The theme of this year is “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine”. The aim of the event is to invite museums and communities to create, imagine and share new practices of (co-)creation of value, new business models for cultural institutions and innovative solutions for the social, economic and environmental challenges of the present.

On May 18, the following events are planned at the municipal museums:

• Yerevan History Museum
“44 days…” exhibition opens at 20:00 to outline patriotism as the main national direction of education and upbringing and to reimagine it in the museum of the 21st century.
From 11:00 till 22:00 – an interactive event “Visitor’s choice”

• ”Erebuni” historical and archaeological reserve-museum
At 13:00 “Let’s dig together” event at “Erebuni” historical and archaeological reserve-museum
At 11:00 “Let’s dig together” event in “Shengavit” branch
At 15:00 a master class of ceramics in “Shengavit” branch
At 12:30 a master class of archery at “Karmir Blur” branch
At 17:00 a show for people with visual disturbance with texts in the Braille system at “Erebuni” museum

• Modern Art Museum
At 12:00-22:00 Armenuhi Martirosyan’s individual exhibition entitled “What?-2nd”
At 14:00 a talk-meeting with Armenuhi Martirosyan on “Psychology of colour” theme
At 18:00 “Self-isolation in art” – a short performance at “Mihr” theatre
At 20:00-22:00 concert of classical music with the participation of the soloists of “Opera youth program” of the National Academic Theatre of opera and Ballet

• Karen Demirchyan museum
At 12:00-22:00 an interactive exhibition entitled “In our soviet yard”

• Fridtjof Nansen museum
At 15:00 an open-air event entitled “Fridtjof Nansen – humanity missioner”.
