Hayk Marutyan welcomes Ambassador of Japan

Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan welcomed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia H.E. June Yamada. Greeting the guest Mayor Marutyan attached importance to the role of the Ambassado rin development of Armenian-Japanese cooperation.
Hayk Marutyan noted that in spite of the fact that Yerevan doesn’t have direct partnership with Tokyo or other large cities of Japan there is wide filed for cooperation in various spheres of urban economy.
“I am aware that various programs of technical support were implemented previously and taking the opportunity I want to express my gratitude for it. At the same time, I would like to ask for your assistance in involving Yerevan in the programs of technical support and investments to be accomplished by the Government of Japan, private sector or in other formats”, stressed the Mayor. He particularly outlined the importance of successful experience exchange with the cities of Japan in the fields of transport and waste removal.
Ambassador June Yamada congratulated Hayk Marutyan on taking the office of Yerevan Mayor and in his turn expressed hope that the large cities of the two countries will expand their cooperation. Noting that recently the flows of Japanese tourists to Armenia have increased the Ambassador expressed hope that Armenians will have more have more frequent business and touristic visits to Japan particularly taking into account that the process of receiving the entrance visa has been simplified recently.
