New Projects of Interest to Be Put Forward for Public Discussion: Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan

Digitalization of services in Yerevan is an important and inevitable component of the city’s development, so the community will go on installation of e-management systems. Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan, who was conducting the regular working meeting, informed that a flexible system of projects is going to be installed and the “Active Citizen” platform will be re-operated.
 According to the vice-mayor, the process of project management has improved with the installation of “Mulberry” system, and the upcoming next stage will make it possible to have a clear list of the projects being fulfilled in the city and to get informed about the processes and terms. Due to the “Active Citizen” platform citizens will not only be able to make proposals and all new projects of public interest will be put forward for open discussions.
The persons in charge for different spheres presented current programs, outlines further plans.
In 2023, approximately 700 lifts are scheduled for replacement in blocks of flats. The tender for the program has been held.

This year, with the support of international partners and within the scope of community programs, 22 pre-schools will be put into operation after overhauling. The programs of building improvement currently involve well-arrangement of parks, renovation of policlinics, bridge constructions. Vice-mayor Avinyan instructed to set the convenience for people with locomotor disabilities as a priority task in all community projects and building permissions. From now on, before providing final acts, the implementation of greening projects, including obligatory tree planting will be considered.

 This year, construction and restoration of drainage and sewage systems is planned at 21 locations. Currently, the process of cleaning up the riverbeds of the Getar and the Voxjaberd is going on. Referring to the cleanness of the city and the construction waste dumping in various spots, the vice-mayor instructed to set everyday control in teamwork with the police to exclude the cases. He also stressed that such an attitude towards the city must not be tolerated and appeals are not enough to stop it. Thus, certain mechanisms of punishment are to be applied.

Street marking, replacement of traffic lights, recruitment of bus drivers and purchase of new buses: the person in charge of the sphere was instructed to present a clear schedule as to in what directions and in what timetables the new 237 buses will come up to itineraries.

The programs anticipated in the field of nature protection are structural and professionally grounded: the community started the process of healing the green fund of the city. The process of replacement of old damaged and dead trees with new precious and beautiful trees has been going on in the city for a few days already. Approximately 2500 trees are to be replaced this year, 150 of which are of Sakura sort. Other trees are of important ecological significance.
 Tigran Avinyan stressed that the opinion of Yerevan residents is highly important in this aspect so it is to be taken into account in the programs of improvement and greening of the Cascade area which is in the heart of Yerevan. The Municipality plans to plant about 200 thousand threes in 7-9 years and with this aim the city should have arboretums so that the trees would be grown there and not purchased every time. Besides, a clear concept of the city’s greening is to be offered to townspeople.
