Cycling parade and concert to mark World Bicycle Day and 10th anniversary of Federation of Cyclists

On the event of the World Bicycle Day and the 10th anniversary of the Federation of Cyclists a festive parade of cycling was organized with the support of Yerevan Municipality and the UN Armenian Office. The aim of the action was to boost development of alternative means of transport in Armenia particularly in its capital city.

Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, the acting UN Resident Coordinator Lila Peiters Yahia, the RA Minster of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, the First Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan, members of the Council of Elders, numerous townspeople and guests took part in the action. Congratulating cyclists and fans of cycling Hrachya Sargsyan stressed that the city authorities attach importance to the initiatives aimed at cycling development and are always ready do assist.
The parade by bicycles and scooters started at Stepan Shahumyan square and passed along Beyrut, Argishti streets, Mashtots avenue, Amiryan street up to Republic square then along Nalbandyan, Moskovyan, Abovyan streets ended up at the start point. The participants expressed hope that their example will attract many new cyclists.
The cycling parade was followed by a concert program.
