On June 11 “City with flair” festival will be held in Yerevan for the 2nd time
Within the frames of “Yerevan summer 2016” three-month program of events of Yerevan Municipality and at the initiative of “Armenian cookery traditions development and protection” NGO the traditional cookery city festival “Bread in the mountains” held under the motto “City with flair” will be held on June 11, from 17.00 till 21.00 in the area next to Kievyan bridge, beginning of the park after Tumanyan (TUMO park).
The details about the event were presented during the press conference by Yerevan Mayor's Assistant Maria Baraghamyan and by the head of “Armenian cookery traditions development and protection” NGO Sedrak Mamulyan.
The aim of the program is to unite the leading companies representing the cookery skills to familiarize the townspeople and the guests of the capital with the rich traditional Armenian cookery. The event will be accompanied by the concert of folk dance and song groups. Master classes will be organized on the spot.
“Yerevan summer” program which has been held for the 4th year includes a number of festivals the first of which is “City with flair” which is based on the traditional cookery festival “Bread in the mountains” held for the 8th time. 13 Armenian national and church feasts will be represented in separate pavilions. The number of participants has increased in comparison with the previous year: some other organizations expressed wish to participate in the festival”, said Maria Baraghamyan.
Stressing the importance of restoration and popularization of the traditions of national cookery Sedrak Mamulyan noted that the festival has a mission to promote protection and development of national traditions.
“Our cuisine is rooted from ritual cookery. We are happy that the festival is held for the 2nd time jointly with Yerevan Municipality. Our aim is not only to present our national cuisine but also to create a tourism environment in Yerevan and Armenia”, said Sedrak Mamulyan.
On the festival day the foreign guests of the capital will be welcomed by the volunteers from Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Bryusov who will introduce the Armenian national traditions in foreign languages.
“Any festival organized by Yerevan Municipality has a tourism boosting component to make Yerevan more attractive for tourists developing the festival tourism. That is why “Yerevan summer” three-month program includes so many festivals, and the tourists visiting our city can get information about them from tourism companies, hotels and other advertisement sources”, said Mayor's Assistant Maria Baraghamyan.
