252-meter-long bridge to be constructed over Hrazdan river: construction of Argavand-Shirak new road has started

The construction of the new road connecting Argavand to Shirak has started in the capital. The bilateral memorandum on the construction of the new 2.7-km motorway was signed by Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan and authorized representative of Levantina Ingenieria y Construccion company (Spain) Luis Lopez Moloni. One example of the document was laid in the foundation of the future road.

The RA Vice Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan were presented the details of the project on the miniature model. The new road with uninterrupted traffic is to be constructed within the second trench of the investment program of sustainable urban development financed by the Asian Development Bank. The road will have 4-6 traffic zones with average length of 24-28 m. The road segment involves the construction of a metal bridge the length of which is to be 252 m and the width-28 m. Besides, it involves the construction of an overpass in the junction of Isakov and Babajanyan streets.

“The new road segment is of strategic significance for Yerevan ad Armenia in general. Today, we have four bridges in the capital, and within the frames of the program the fifth bridge is to be constructed over the Hrazdan river. This road will significantly relieve the traffic in Yerevan”, said the Mayor.
The authorized representative of the Levantina Ingenieria y Construccion company (Spain) Luis Lopez Moloni in his turn marked tat the company has many-year experience in the realization of such projects and assured that the work will be implemented within determined time.

All communication lines will be replaced during the construction and the lighting system will be provided with energy saving LED lamps.
The Argavand-Shirak road is a segment of the circle road connecting Malatia-Sebastia and Shengavit districts. The contract costs USD 26.003.196.22 in AMD equivalent. The construction will take 21 months.
