Mayor Hayk Marutyan had a meeting with Japanese scientist Takeo Kanade

Yerevan Mayor welcomed the Japanese scientist, Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, the author of “Origami World” theory, the author of “virtual reality” concept Mr Takeo Kanade who became the laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Armenia for his worldwide contribution to the IT sphere.
Greeting the guest and congratulating him on the ward Mayor Marutyan stressed that it was an honour for him to host the great scientist in Yerevan.
The possibilities of IT installation in various spheres of urban economy were discussed during the meeting. Touching upon the projects fulfilled by the Municipality the Mayor of the capital also mentioned mankapartez.am website launched in April, 2019 which makes it possible for parents to register their children to any municipal kindergarten online. Activecitizen.am platform also launched recently gives the opportunity to citizens to present their proposals related to their vision of the city. The best projects will be realized by community means.
“IT sector is one of the priorities of the economic development of our country and our vision of the city development also involves using of modern technologies in different fields”, stressed Mayor Marutyan.
Expressing gratitude for warm welcome the Japanese scientist noted that Armenia has a significant potential of cooperation in the sphere of advanced technologies.
“Mister Mayor, I appreciate your approaches and solutions in the fields you have mentioned. The initiative of implementation of citizens’ ideas and proposals is also exciting”, said Takeo Kanade.
As a “smart city” concept Mayor Hayk Marutyan also noted the launch of the new transport network in Yerevan which is to play an important role in the regulation of the public transport in the capital.
