Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan met with the delegation headed by the vice chairman of the standing commission of the Municipal People’s Congress of Qingdao Liu Shengzhen.

Presenting the guests the main development strategies of the capital and the programs of cooperation with international organizations Mayor Taron Margaryan noted that Yerevan annually expands the frames of cooperation and currently it interacts with 50 cities worldwide and 10 international organizations.
“We attach importance to cooperation expansion and strengthening with partner cities and international companies which contributed to updating and development of infrastructures in various spheres of urban economy as well as to significant improvement of the quality of servicing. So, due to experience exchange it becomes possible to find maximally effective variants which are practically used”, said the Mayor and expressed confidence that the cooperation between Yerevan and Qingdao will be effective too.
Taron Margaryan outlined the particular importance of signing the memorandum of Intentions between the two cities which will actually serve a basis for further mutually beneficia cooperation.
Taking into account that the delegation involved leaders of large companies Mayor Taron Margaryan referred to the programs and proposals of investment interest.
“Yerevan Municipality presents the investment proposals and programs which might interest the private sector. We attach importance to the implementation of concrete programs and projects and I have to point out that currently serious steps are being taken in Yerevan towards investment attraction and business environment improvement”, said Taron Margaryan adding that Yerevan Municipality is open and ready to discuss concrete programs of cooperation and to assist in their implemenration.
Expressing gratitude for warm welcome the vice chairman of the standing commission of the Municipal People’s Congress of Qingdao (China) Liu Shengzhen in her turn noted that there are diverse possibilities for cooperation in the spheres of mutual interest.
“Mister Mayor, your willingness for cooperation is highly important for us because our cities really have similar problems and by means of experience exchange it is possible to find appropriate solutions. Qingdao is one of the largest industrial centers of China and I am sure that in various spheres of urban economy management mutually beneficial cooperation will be established for the welfare of the two cities”, said Liu Shengzhen.
During the meeting the First Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan and the vice chairman of the standing commission of the Municipal People’s Congress of Qingdao (China) Liu Shengzhen signed the Memorandum on Intentions. The parties arranged to form a working group which will work out proposals for cooperation between the two cities.
