Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Seyed Kazem Sadjadi. Greeting the Ambassador Mayor Taron Margaryan highly appreciated the cooperation established between Yerevan Municipality and the IRI Embassy considering it to be really effective and successful. Referring to the interaction between two capitals Yerevan Mayor noted that concrete steps are to be taken in this regard.
“Taking into account the high level of Armenian-Iranian relationship we attach particular importance to cooperation strengthening and expansion between the bodies of self-governance. Both your role and the role of the RA Ambassador to Iran are significant in this issue. There are warm friendly relationship between Yerevan and its partner cities of Iran, and the cooperation between self-governance bodies is effective. Therefore we are willing to establish similar ties with the capital of Iran- Tehran”, said Taron Margaryan.
Expressing gratitude for warm welcome, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Armenia Seyed Kazem Sadjadi noted that within his powers he will do everything to organize the visit of Tehran mayor to Yerevan which will serve a basis for the cooperation between the two capitals.
“Mister Mayor, thank you for the consistence you show to all initiatives of Iran Embassy. I assure you that I will do my best to promote business ties between the two capitals which will open new perspectives for mutually beneficial cooperation”, said the Ambassador.
During the meeting the parties made an agreement to include the Blue Mosque in Yerevan into tour-packages of Yerevan so that tourists could familiarize themselves with Iranian culture. Mayor Taron Margaryan suggested forming a working group which would discuss all the projects of mutual interest and will ensure operative solution in the issue of their implementation.
