On the event of the 25th anniversary of signing the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation between Yerevan and Marseille the Armenian-French Trade and Industry Chamber of Marseille organized a business forum in which Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan took part.
In his greeting speech Yerevan mayor first of all expressed gratitude to the Armenian-French trade and Industry Chamber of Marseille for the organization of the meeting in such a format and for warm welcome stressing that he was really delighted with the fact that within the frames of bilateral cooperation particular importance is attached to the economic component.
“During the recent years the economic interest of large foreign, particularly, French companies in Yerevan increased. You are aware of the successful activity of a number of French companies in our country and of jointly fulfilled projects. Attraction of foreign investments and installation of progressive experience are among our priority tasks. With this aim a number proposals aimed at the development of infrastructures of urban economy have been worked out”, said Taron Margaryan adding that the worked out package of investment proposals is related to the key sectors and directions of urban economy among which are the road and transport network, tourism, residential and public buildings, elevators facilities, street lighting, recycling, health care, information technologies and urban environment.

“We also attach a lot of importance to installation of modern technologies in urban economy management. Thus, with the aim of working out appropriate conception and strategy, in accordance with my decision, a commission for working out and implementation of “Yerevan-smart city” program has been formed. Be sure that our team is ready to host corresponding specialists and to organize joint discussions with the aim of development of economic cooperation, experience exchange and applying international progressive practice”, stressed Taron Margaryan assuring once again that Yerevan Municipality is always ready to cooperate with the organizations and individuals who wish to carry out investment programs in Yerevan.
At the end of the speech Yerevan Mayor once again thanked for organizing the meeting and wished the participants of the forum fruitful work.
The official ceremony of opening the forum was followed by conferences and round tables during which the representatives of Yerevan Municipality presented the investment environment of Yerevan, the investment policy and packages of Yerevan Municipality as well as the policy and priorities of development in the sphere of tourism.
