Taron Margaryan was present at “The 40 days of Musa Dagh” performance
By the initiative of Mayor Taron Margaryan the employees of the Municipality of Yerevan and of the staffs of the administrative districts visited the National academic Theater after Gabriel Sundukyan to watch “The 40 days of Musa Dagh” performance. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan was also present at the performance staged on the motives of the same name novel by Franz Werfel. Before the beginning of the performance Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan and the member of the Council of Elders of Yerevan, director of the museum –institute of the Armenian Genocide Hayk Demoyan had a speech.
In his speech addressed to the audience Aram Sukiasyan stressed the importance of this initiative and particularly said that this way the Municipality of Yerevan starts the string of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and that those events commemorating the innocent victims of the Great Armenian Genocide will be initiated and held by the Municipality till April 24 2015.
Hayk Demoyan in his turn said that this initiative of the Mayor is symbolic as “The 40 days of Musa Dagh” novel translated into approximately 40 languages not only represents the wild character of the Ottoman Turkey but also shows dignified, militant and unbreakable type of Armenians who were able to beat the military units of the regular Turkish army due to their strong will.
