800 schoolchildren participate in educational-cognitive program

The last visit involved in the educational-cognitive program of this year is to the city greenhouse. The visitors are pupils of Yerevan basic school N39 and N157.
The First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Levon Hovhannisyan and the head of General Education Department Margarite Khachatryan meet them there. Levon Hovhannisyan informed that this year, together with the Department of General Education they initiated a new program which included visits of pupils of 7th and 8th grades to historical and cultural centres, museums, and community establishments such as the city greenhouse where they schoolchildren can get to know about greening activities. The Deputy Mayor stressed the importance of gaining new knowledge for schoolchildren and added that all costs are covered by the community.
According to Margarite Khachatryan, this year 800 pupils of 40 schools made use of the program and participated in the cognitive visits.
At the greenhouse the children watched the process of growing and caring for different trees and other plants. They walked about the open-air area of the greenhouse. The schools got presents from the greenhouse: a silver fir tree and some other plants. The pupils promised to take good care of them.
The visits are organized by the municipal touristic double-deckers. This way the children can also see the historical and cultural sights.
