The members of the organizational committee of the 16th IFF “Golden Apricot” and guests of the festival were hosted in the City Hall of Yerevan. Attaching importance to the role of the festival in the cultural life of the capital Mayor Marutyan noted that it is one of the most significant cultural events of the capital.
“Yerevan townspeople look forward to these hot July days. Weeks before the festival they have already familiarized themselves with the program, made a list of the films they prefer and now are enjoying the peculiar atmosphere and delicate charm this festival gives to our city”, said the Mayor.
On the event of the 16th IFF “Golden Apricot”, for significant contribution to the cultural life of Yerevan, the cinematographer Karen Arikyan has been awarded with Yerevan Mayor’s Gold Medal.
This year the international film festival received 740 participation applications from different countries: a number of films from prestigious film festivals -Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam-will be shown as well.
