Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan received the US Resident Coordinator in Armenia, UNDP Resident Representative Shombi Sharp. Greeting the guest the Mayor expressed satisfaction with the process and results of the active cooperation between Yerevan and UNDP. Hayk Marutyan noted that Yerevan Municipality is ready for developing further cooperation.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia also stated the existence of tight cooperation with Yerevan. Shombi Sharp noted that the cooperation between Yerevan and UNDP is obvious. With the assistance of the Program up-to-date systems of lighting are installed in the streets of Yerevan due to which more than 60% energy saving and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is possible. At the cost of grant means allotted by the Green Climate Fund and with the co-financing of the Municipality the program of energy efficiency increase is being implemented in community buildings. In a few days the children and youth center renovated within the framework of the mentioned program is going to open in Erebuni district. Energy efficiency in this building will increase by 50%.
