Action plan for making city management more innovative and participatory to be worked out

To boost public participation in urban programs, to make governance more transparent, innovative and participatory Yerevan joined the “Open Local Government” initiative. Within the frames of the partnership a new Action Plan will be worked out.

The issues related to the project were discussed during the meeting held in the City Hall. Acting head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Development and Investment Programs Armen Harutyunyan, OPG Deputy Director Shreya Basu, coordinator of “OPG-Armenia” initiative Lilya Afrikyan, expert of “OPG Eastern Partnership” Ani Harutyunyan took part in the meeting.
It was marked that the city authorities attach importance active participation of society in the programs of social significance and decision-making process.
The parties stressed that the OPG Action Plan will benefit effective management of resources.
The “Open Government Partnership” initiative not only creates important dialogue between interested parties but also ensures the process of revealing and discussion of regional issues with the member countries of the initiative.
Currently, the “Open Local Government” initiative has 86 local governments.
