The City is Reading: Yerevan Hosts International Book Festival on September 5–7
The Yerevan International Book Festival officially kicks off today in the capital, bringing together book lovers, readers, and publishers for the eighth year in a row.
Since 2023, the Yerevan Municipality has been the primary sponsor of the festival, while its founder is the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan attended the festival's opening ceremony.
The Yerevan International Book Festival offers a platform for both experienced and novice writers to present their works and take part in a variety of literary discussions.
Due to support from the Yerevan Municipality, the festival has undergone significant changes in both content and organization, and has begun to collaborate actively with international literary institutions.
The Yerevan Municipality places strong emphasis on the balanced development of the literary sector. It allocates approximately 40 million AMD annually to replenish the collections of city libraries. Since the launch of the program, 19 libraries across Yerevan have received nearly 30,000 new books.
Moreover, the municipality has initiated a number of programs to support the development of the publishing sector, including translation and publishing projects.
The 8th Yerevan International Book Festival will take place in Yerevan from September 5 to 7. It will then be held in Gyumri on September 28, and in Kapan on October 4.
