On December 18, one of the year’s most significant cultural events took place at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after A. Spendiaryan, where the Armenian audience attended the long-awaited premiere of the ballet-oratorio “Sasuntsi Davit” (David of Sassoun). The ballet-oratorio was created at the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan.
The performance united artists of the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after A. Spendiaryan, nearly 400 students from Yerevan’s music and art schools, and the ethno-electronic group “Hogh Arthun”. 
Specially designed thematic costumes are now available for purchase, with 10% of the proceeds donated to support children fighting cancer.
